Tapping the water market? The US Water Partnership

/

A few days ago Secretary Clinton announced the formation of US Water Partnership. Details are sketchy at the moment but we all know that state’s involvement in water networking is nothing new. Netherlands are quite active through their alliance with the world bank (BNWP), French through Coalition D' Eau/World Water Council and Stockholm through their World Water Week.

It seems that the US are now joining those list of states which mobilizes their resources on the water sector. From any angle, politics, economics and technology, the potential is huge. Read more here.

"Asian Feminisms and Transnational Activism"

Asian Center for Women's Studies, Ewha Womans University
Seoul, South Korea
The Asian Center for Women's Studies at Ewha Womans University is calling for applicants for the Ewha Global Empowerment Program (EGEP) 2012 summer. EGEP is a two-week program that will take place twice a year (January and July). It aims to empower women working in non-governmental public sectors and to nourish the next generation of women leaders in Asia and Africa. EGEP 2012 summer (July 5-18, 2012) is designed for women activists in non-governmental public sectors in Asia, with the theme of "Asian Feminisms and Transnational Activism."

Program Goals
On completing this program, participants of this program will have:
           - improved their theoretical knowledge and practical capacities from a gender perspective;
           - broadened their understanding of women's lives, women's issues, and women's rights in              
             Asian context; and
           -strengthened their leadership capacities to build women's solidarity and cooperation in local,
             national, and transnational contexts.
              
Eligibility
With minimum three years of experience, women activists working in international and national non-governmental public sectors in Asia, such as NGOs, NPOs, civil society organizations, including individuals working independently are encouraged to apply for this program.

Number of Participants: 20~25

Programs
While a more specific EGEP curriculum will be provided separately, the following is the major activity that participants may expect from the program:
            -EGEP open forum
            -EGEP workshop
            -Lectures
            -Action plans
            -Study tours to Korean NGOs
            -Cultural and social events

Language
English is the official language of the EGEP.

Selection Criteria
The selection committee will evaluate the applicants based on the following criteria:

Funding
Ewha Womans University provides the funding to cover fees for the tuition, dormitory including a two-week allowance for all the participants. Funds for airfare will be awarded only to the participants from Korean ODA beneficiary countries.

Cara mengutip status facebook dan twitter dengan style MLA dan APA

Twitter dan facebook memang bukan otoritas ilmiah. Namun demikian sebagai pernyataan fakta status facebook dan twitter tentunya bisa dikutip dalam tulisan ilmiah.
Contoh yang diberikan oleh MLA adalah sebagai berikut:

Athar, Sohaib (ReallyVirtual). “Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1AM (is a rare event).” 1 May 2011, 3:58 p.m. Tweet.

Sementara contoh yang diusulkan APA adalah sebagai berikut:

Tentunya, mengutip twitter dan facebook dalam karya ilmiah memiliki beberapa masalah, diantaranya soal (1) retreivability dan (2) sudut pandang waktu pengutipan.

A Single Life Advice (more like ranting about single people complaints)

I may not be old enough to give marriage advice, but I am totally capable of giving single life advice. I got married when I was 28,5 years old. And I have only one advice: ENJOY!

I have seen too many single ladies and men desperately wait for the right persons to come. They pass day by day thinking when will my soulmate come. They forgot to enjoy the day, as a single. Some says "I have enough single life, I wana get married". Well, I am telling you, you never have enough single life!

If I could, I wana slap every single men and women who thinks that life is boring without a partner to share with. Yep, I wana slap them on the face and say: Wake up, life is boring because of you! You bore yourself and you know what? You bore the whole world! That's why your perfect soulmate, even when he or she is around, perhaps won't notice you. Perhaps thinks you're a boring person hence, why you?! Why does he or she wants to spend the rest of his/her life with a boring person like you?!

living a single life is so exciting, so adventurous, so contemplative, so romantic. Yes, romantic. Because life is between you, yourself and God. Once you get intimate with yourself, once you can enjoy the solitude with God, you'll feel it.. You'll feel the greatness of being a single person.

Travel the world, do crazy things, challenge your self, cross the lines once in a while, fill your self with adrenaline. You are 20ies/30ies, you can do anything you want, you earn money, you have no dependent, you are burden-less mature person! You are on top of your life. Who needs a soulmate?! The soulmate is you!

And if you are stuck in a lousy relationship, end it. Lousy relationship means either one of you or both of you are not ready to be in the relationship. Well, when you are so in love, then you are doomed. You are stuck and you can't use the rationale to end it. Then I'd say congratulation on wasting your time. I hope it's worth the sacrafice.

When the right person comes you will know it. And when it happens, your life will change forever. Many people say it's for the better. I say many of them lie. It's not always for the better. Marriage means reconciliation of who you are, the life you live in and even the future you want to be in. And without knowing who you are, without spending enough time with your self now, you'll be doomed in a marriage. Simply because you don't know how and what to tolerate, how and what to reconcile. You'll be lost in a relationship and that sucks! Not only you feel like you don't get the company you wish from your partner, but also you don't provide the company your partner wish to have.

So spend enough time with your self, enjoy the relationship. Loving yourself is loving God. Like that, you'll glow, you'll shine and you'll dazzle people. By people I mean including your soulmate, even the soulmate of other people haha. They'll come to you before you know it.

Really, desperation waste your time, your potency, it waste your self. And you, your self, deserve better. Love your self truly for who you are and who you want to be, before you try to love anybody else :)

Dua hal terbaik dari Menikah

Dua hal terbaik yang di dapat dari menikah (so far);

1) Punya orang yang dipercaya dan dicinta layaknya keluarga dekat, tapi asik dan nyambung layaknya sahabat. Sesayang2 nya kita ke sahabat, kalau disuruh milih biasanya kita utamakan keluarga. Dan se dekat2 nya kita sama keluarga, pasti ada banyak hal yang cuma bisa kita bagi sama sahabat. Menikah adalah meresmikan sahabat kita menjadi keluarga terdekat. Atau menjadikan keluarga terdekat kita sahabat. It makes us feel so.. Homy, accepted and .. Peaceful :)

2) Punya orang yang dijadikan curahan pikiran dan perasaan dalam kondisi apapun. Terutama saat pulang kerja atau baru melewati suatu kejadian, bertemu pasangan rasanya seperti pulang ke sanctuary. Perasaan jadi lbh lega, dilindungi dan ringan beban.

Menikahlah dengan orang yang tepat di saat yang tepat :)
